It was so wonderful meeting so many of you at the Great Bridal Expo!  We always have such a great time preparing for these shows.  We introduced our new booth design just a few months ago and it has been such a hit!  From our ambient up-lighting to our custom gobos, from our cool new DJ facade to our gallery-wrapped fine art canvas prints, we think we managed to give you a great preview of what we can do for your wedding.  But you tell us - what do YOU like to see when you visit shows like the Great Bridal Expo?

Chicago - Part 2 - Business & Education

So you read in Part one that I was in Chicago attending a conference of the top DJ company owners in North America.  While there I was invited to use my talent to assist in a fund raiser for a lovely little 4 year old with Angelman Syndrome.  In Part two, I’ll discuss the business and educational side of my trip.

For the past 15 years, I have been a member of a group of prominent DJ business owners in North America.  The original group was named MEGA - Mobile Entertainers Guild of America.  It faded in about 2002, but right on it’s heals an even larger and more prominent group formed - The DJ Think Tank.  Each year we get together to share our insights with one another in a setting that is more relaxed and productive - when compared to the industry national conventions.  Each year we meet in a different member’s city.  This year it was Chicago (where the group originally formed).

The two highlights I will point out are from Monday, the first day of the Conference in which we were brought into the City of Chicago for a one day workshop at the famous Second City Comedy Club, and from the Wednesday evening gala, the final evening of the conference.  Monday, after a quick morning session in which we learned we were going to have a little “Apprentice” type challenge for our Wednesday night Gala, we were off to Second City for a day of team building and relationship training.

Chicago - Part 1 - Charity

Each year I have the priveledge of meeting with a prominent group of DJ Entertainment company owners that gather for a highly motivational and educational conference for during the month of July.  This year our meeting took place in Chicago.  Each year the conference is in a different city.  This year I flew in a few days early at the invitation of my friend KC Kokoruz of Chicago’s Spinnin’ Disc entertainment.  KC together with JR Silva of Silva Entertainment in Orlando picked me up at the airport and together the three of us spent the morning and early afternoon visiting Spinnin’ Disc’s Chicago city office (that they shares with Modern Image Photography) and their main office in Arlington Heights. 

This day began as a great day of colleagues sharing ideas but by mid-afternoon became a day with a greater purpose.  KC had volunteered JR and I to entertain at a fundraiser for a 4 year old girl named Avery Petersen.  The event was the first annual “Angels For Avery” golf outing and auction.  The event was held at the prominent Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, Illinois.  Avery was recently diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome - a genetic disorder that will affect Avery for the rest of her life.  Angelman Syndrome is a condition associated with severe cognitive and development delays.  Avery will never be able to speak, and in time she will learn to walk, but will always need the assistance of her parents.

JR Silva and I were the MC’s and Entertainers for the event.   Spinnin Disc DJ Dale Holub was the DJ.  We were in charge of keeping the guests entertained with trivia, games and raffles throughout the dinner portion of the golf outing and before the Golf Awards and Auction winners were announced.  About 300 people, golfers and their families, attended.  According to the event chairwomen - Jennifer Kisselburg & Amy Stilling - the event was a larger success than originally anticipated.

For a Florida DJ, I was proud to be asked to help entertain at the Angels for Avery fundraiser, in one way it was an opportunity to use my talent to give back to a community but in another it was great to be able to meet Avery, her family and her parents friends who reached into their hearts and organized a great event for a great cause.  With the support of such a great group of friends and the community, Avery’s challenges will be supported with lots of love.

As an entertainer, I am often asked to donate my services to charities.  Most are large corporate run and only a little bit of the fundraising actually reaches the intended.  Community run fundraisers such as “Angels for Avery” is an example of a charity that I am proud to donate my services to.  Everything raised will go directly to Avery and her family because of the commitment of some friends and their community.  If you’d like to donate something to the cause, click on the link to “Angels for Avery” (will be live soon).  Every little bit helps and goes right to the cause.

When you imagine your wedding day, how do visualize yourself? As an artist I can tell you what will look great on you and enhance your features, but choosing a wedding day look is not  just about my 
professional opinion.  It’s more about understanding YOU and your vision. That’s when the fun begins. Together we design a look that flatters not only your features but more importantly, your personal style.

Here is list of the most popular bridal looks for chic South Florida brides. Which one are you? South Beach Bohemian Bride, Oscar Night, Earth Mother, or Sex Kitten Bride.

 

South Beach Bohemian Bride: Relaxed, Beachy, Romantic and Beautiful.
(Recommended for daytime outdoor events) She is a free spirit who looks as if she has been frolicking on a beach vacation the week before the wedding. Bohemian bride looks like she is not trying to hard, just naturally flawless, tan and glowing.

Makeup Ideas: Smooth, Fresh look. Flawless skin. Bronzey cheeks. Lots ofindividual eyelash extensions to make eyes stand out but look natural. Lips soft pink or soft nude with a gloss.

Hair Ideas: Beachy waves(Jessica Simpson style) Pull a few strands off your face and add small flowers or orchids for a more bohemian look. Loose”effortless” updo is also an option. Waves are loose and not too coiffed. The idea here is “effortless” beauty. Very modern, fresh, 
relaxed and chill vibe.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s/Oscar Night Bride : Classy, Elegant, Glamorous and Sophisticated.
The Oscar night bride loves the finer things in life. Her wedding will be a grand affair and she will look like an A List star walking the red carpet as she struts down the aisle, all eyes on her. She wants to stand out, play up her features and is not afraid of a little drama. (Recommended for evening affairs).

Makeup: Eyes- Dramatic, Soft lips, False lashes. You’ve caught they eye of your groom, now all eyes are on you. Your eye makeup is dramatic, defined and can be smokey or done in cafe or plum in the crease. Dark brown liner and false lashes. Lips are soft so as not to distract from your eyes. (Otherwise you will look like a 1980’s anchorwoman.) Soft Eye makeup, more dramatic lips. Classic Movie Star Look of Yesteryear. Think Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe (Christina Aguilera channels this look today.) Eyes can be soft with a gold or champagne shimmer, classic retro inspired black liner and false strip lashes. Lips are stained in merlot, or a daring crimsonred. This look 
is not for the faint of heart.

Hair is more coiffed, sophisticated and structured. Bigger curls, hair can be teased at crown for more volume and worn half up, half down with some bling on your headpiece or a classy vintage brooch. Classic updos also work with this look.

 

 

Earth Mother Bride: Fresh, Very Natural, Earth Mother bride never wears makeup but knows she needs it to look good in pictures. You may be afraid of makeup and don’t want to look fake. It’s OK. Take a deep breath and we will take baby makeup steps. We promise not to cake it on!

Makeup: Eyes are soft and natural with soft neutrals for natural definition and a maybe a subtle hint of gold. Cheeks are Rosy or Peachy. You will look healthy, fresh, innocent and youthful.

 

 

Sex Kitten Bride: Lots of Lashes, Glossy lips. Hair is loose big and flowy with lots of volume and body. Clip in hair extensions are a great option to and length, volume or subtle highlights to her hair. Sex Kitten bride wants to look like a Victoria’s Secret model. She is sexy and sensual in a classy way and in touch with her feminine and girly side.

Makeup: Eyes can be smokey or dramatic, lashes are a must, lips a pale glossy pink and skin flawless and smooth.

Brittany & Mark’s gorgeous wedding at Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation

When my good friends Nancy and Angelo’s son became engaged, they came to Party Time to help plan their wedding. Brittany was a beautiful bride and the entire family was filled with tremendous emotion on the wedding day. The best man’s speech was one of the funniest I’ve ever heard! Not to be outdone by his son, Angelo, the groom’s Dad, delivered a speech so funny we thought we were in a comedy club – not a wedding reception! Brittany and Mark had their first dance choreographed much to the delight of the guests.  Their lovely, rich palette of green, sage, cream, and champagne really matched their venue.

You can really see the level of joy and emotion in these photos.  Also, Jacaranda Country Club is so gorgeous and bright, especially with the outdoor ceremonies in the white gazebo.
